Mute Math Monday's and more mayhem
Let me preface this by saying that I'm totally unable to sleep with the big wedding day just 2 days away. I haven't slept in what feels like a week. But that's ok, it's a nervous twitchy kinda half sleep. It'll explain my unfocused blabbering forthcoming.
The boys in the band headed out to see Mute Math on monday. I was expecting a bit of energy. Biggest surprise of the night were the openers Pilot Speed, whom i last saw back in the university days in Edmonton when they were better known as Pilate. heck, i have to Pilate CD's that I deeply love. They were pretty good at the Starlite Room way back then, but they've definitely gotten better since then. Not sure why they went with a name change, but it was a pleasant surprise to see them again. I had trouble hunting down who the openers were. Pilot Speed set a good level of energy. They had some tasty extended jam sessions with energy and charisma. And can the guy ever sing.
Mute Math absolutely killed it. The lead singer was flipping over his piano, hand standing on his piano, smashing his foot on the piano, and letting the drummer have a drum solo from on top of the damn piano. See the trend here? These guys are just natural performers. They had the most creative transitions and instrumentals i've seen, it was astounding. The only other band i've seen that compares to this is either Arcade Fire or Death Cab.... but mute Math does it with a level of energy that's pretty much unmatched outside of a punk band. Props to them. it's pretty nuts.
Wedding. 2 days! Gota remember vows! Petey is singing Brooke Fraser for me... Now if i can only figure out what Elaine is up to, I would be prepared.

What a night...I'm bustin'!
Speaking of energy on stage...Satellite Party was amazing tonight...AND (ackhem)...who was on stage, arm around Perry Ferrell, singing "Jane Says"...(wait for it - smirk)...that's right: ME (grin)! I had to tell somebody...I'm giddy.
