10/10/2007 makes one day in music history
I think the floodgates have opened. A death toll for all the traditional labels? Radiohead released their newest album In Rainbows without a label, and in non-drm mp3 format from their website without a set price. That's right, just enter what you want to pay the Brit lads and you get a digital copy of their album. Enter $0? No problems. $10? Same deal. Rumors are other big name artists are following suite (Oasis?). Makes you think that many established acts are going to follow. Let's face it, not many people make money off traditional CD sales other than the labels. And with the onset of the digital, even no namers with no money like The Rev Squad can put an album out there for a small fee (or none at all).
So with that, I've released our first single New Revelation in non-drm mp3 format for download. I've also put up our upcoming second single as a streaming preview... Of course, most of you have picked up the album anyways. But if the art's there, we're going to release (albeit slowly) for the masses, regardless of who pays or not. Now, hopefully that doesn't make anyone who paid mad (hey you still got a fancy artwork and hopefully signatures.... hawk it on ebay in 5 years).
So cheers to Radiohead to trying something new and daring, and let's see how the industry reacts... Should be quite an event I think.

PS. if anyone missed our interview on Channel M, it's on again this weekend. We're the last 20 minutes of the 1 hour Mandarin Magazine program, and we all look a bit goofy. But they cut and spliced it really well. We're pretty happy with it.
